3 ways to incorporate found ephemera on your projects

How to incorporate found ephemera

Have you ever tried to incorporate found ephemera on your projects? It's a fun way to add interest to your project and use up some of the stuff in your "keep-it-for-a-rainy-day" stash. *winks* Allow me to show you how I incorporated found ephemera on this particular layout. :)

1. Layer elements together to create a custom embellishment.

Here I layered 2 flags [from the restaurant], tied the sticks with twine and added a heart charm [from an old brassierre].

2. Cluster similar elements together to help guide the eye.

The green suede bloom [from old shoes], the handmade fabric bloom [from remnant cloth] and the button form a cluster which help to "frame" the group of photos.

3. Add a cute intereactive element to create interest.

Here I added a bird who is perched on a popsicle stick and added a googly eye. :)

There you have it. 3 ways to incorporate found ephemera on your projects. What do you think?

Supplies: Prima canvas letters, Ranger distress inks, Maya mists, Crafter's Workshop templates, Jenni Bowlin stickers, Fontwerks stamps, 7 Gypsies stamp, corrugated board, masking tape, ribbon, buttons, thread, found ephemera.

This is lovely!! Love all the bits and bobs, and the flags with the twine is super. Love that you save so many random things and put them to good use :0)

I love that you save the same kind of crazy things :) I'm forever clipping off 'bits I can use' from shirts, packages, tags, etc. And those ribbons inside shirts for hanging them up! lol THe food flags are a great score - and you couldn't find a more perfect embellie for a page about their food!

I haven't used ephemera like yours in a while, but have stuffed stashed away 'just in case'. I'll tell ya, *too many ideas and not enough time* is my problem!

Great mix of elements, Yvonne. It has such an eclectic feel.
